Wednesday/Wednesday Night Severe Weather Forecast Update ⚡
A large complex of t’storms/severe t’storms (MCS) has traversed much of Northern and Central Illinois from this morning into this afternoon. A portion of this complex continues to bring t’storm activity to portions of Central Illinois, with activity more recently spreading into portions of Southern Illinois. The remaining activity across Central Illinois will gradually exit prior to late afternoon, while t’storms will continue to traverse Southern Illinois into the early evening. Some re-strengthening and/or renewed development will be possible across Southern Illinois, which could pose a severe weather threat through the early evening.
In the wake of this large complex, isolated to widely scattered t’storms will remain possible tonight across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. A Level 1 severe t’storm threat is in place for the potential for isolated severe t’storms with this activity. Farther north, across Northern Illinois, the severe weather threat has ended for today. Outside of a stray shower or t’storm, generally quiet conditions are expected through the remainder of the day and tonight.
