On New Year’s Eve across the state, high temperatures will range generally in the 30’s, potentially cracking 40 in Southern Illinois. Low temperatures for the midnight countdown and overall Sunday night will range from the mid-20’s to the low-30’s across the state. On New Year’s Day across the state, high temperatures will range generally in the 30’s, potentially cracking 40 in Southern Illinois.
On New Year’s Eve, cloudy skies are expected across the state, with mixed precipitation (Rain/Freezing Rain/Snow) expected across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. Minor snowfall accumulation of a dusting and ice accumulation of a glaze can be expected for some affected areas. For the midnight countdown, generally dry conditions are expected across the state, with potentially a few lingering snow showers across Northeastern Illinois. Dry conditions are expected across the state for New Year’s Day, with mostly cloudy to cloudy skies.
