4th of July 2024 Forecast

(6:30AM – Thursday, July 4th, 2024) A brief look at the weather conditions expected across the state for the 4th of July, Thursday, July 4th.

An active weather day is expected across the state, with showers and t’storms expected at times today and tonight. A large complex of showers and t’storms will traverse a large portion of the state from this morning through early this afternoon. Following this, there will be a period of generally dry/calm conditions across the state for much of the afternoon/evening. The chance for a few clusters of showers and t’storms will then increase across the state once again from later this evening into overnight tonight. An isolated severe t’storm threat cannot be ruled out with either round of activity. So, while it should not be a TOTAL wash-out for any given location today, you may have to dodge some activity.

Temperature-wise, cool to warm conditions are expected across the state. High temperatures will range from the mid-70’s to the mid-80’s across Northern and Central Illinois to the low-80’s to mid-90’s across Southern Illinois. The combination of showers/t’storms and cloud cover may lead to fluctuating temperature conditions throughout the day.

Notes…
•Cool-warm temperatures are expected across the state, with fluctuating temperatures expected.
•Two distinct periods of showers and t’storms are expected across the state today and tonight. A period of dry/calm conditions can be expected between periods.
