Spring/Summer/Fall 2023 Drought – October 26th Update

(2:30PM Thursday, October 26th, 2023) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid Tuesday, October 24th, 2023, shows that much of Illinois continues to experience abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions. Conditions have been maintained or have slightly improved recently across the state, with a bit of rainfall in some areas recently. The weather pattern this week and this weekend, featuring periods of rainfall across the state, may help to improve conditions in some areas.


Impacts…
•Widespread abnormally dry (D0) to severe drought (D2) conditions exist across much of the state, as of the drought monitor update valid Tuesday, October 24th.
•Drought conditions have generally been maintained in most areas since the previous drought monitor update on October 19th.
•Periods of rain this week and this weekend across the state may help to improve conditions in some areas.

The next drought monitor update will be on Thursday, November 2nd.
