Discussion…
•A disturbance that developed within a complex of severe t’storms across Kansas overnight is now expected to move across the state today. This will lead to the chance of some shower and t’storm activity, including a severe t’storm threat, being possible across portions of the state from this afternoon into tonight. Across the southern half of the state, this will be isolated general shower/t’storm chances. Of focus will be closer to where the main disturbance is expected to track, across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. This is where the chance for general showers and t’storms will be increased, including isolated severe t’storm potential. An environment will be in place that will be somewhat supportive of severe t’storms; thus, some of the activity during this timeframe may be severe across the outlooked areas. Forecast soundings suggest damaging winds will be the greatest threat from activity, though hail and an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.
