Saturday/Saturday Night, July 18th – Severe T’Storm Episode – Update #2

(11:00AM – Saturday, July 18th, 2026)

Saturday Morning Update

The forecast remains on track, with no changes needed with this update. An isolated severe weather threat continues to be expected across a large chunk of the state for today/tonight.

As a storm system moves through the Great Lakes, a trailing cold front will sweep across the state today/tonight. A broken line of t’storms will develop along this advancing cold front between midday and mid-afternoon today across portions of Northern and Central Illinois. This broken line of activity will then track southeastward, affecting Central and perhaps portions of Southern Illinois into this evening and tonight.

An Isolated (level 1) severe weather threat will be possible across a large chunk of the state. Damaging winds and small hail will be the main threats.
