Fri-Mon, Aug 4-7th Severe T’Storm Episode Update #3

(11:00AM Sat, August 5th 2023) Saturday morning update on multiple disturbances and a main storm system, all of which will move through the region over the next few days. This pattern will support daily chances for rain/t’storms and severe t’storms across portions of the state, through early Monday morning.

•With this update we have adjusted areal coverage of severe t’storm probabilities across Central and Southern Illinois on today/tonight’s forecast, based on real time observations and trends.

•With this update we have issued our first severe t’storm forecast for Sunday/Sunday night.

​Timing & Location…

•This Morning – Early Sunday Morning, August 5-6th: Eastern and Southern Illinois.

•Early Sunday Morning – Early Monday Morning, August 6-7th: Much of Illinois.

Impacts…

•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm risk is in place across Eastern and Southern Illinois, from this morning through early Sunday morning. Isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
