Fri-Mon, Aug 4-7th Severe T’Storm Episode Update #2

(11:00PM Fri, August 4th 2023) Friday night update on multiple disturbances and a main storm system are expected to move through the region over the next few days. This pattern will support daily chances for rain/t’storms and severe t’storms across portions of the state, tonight through Monday morning.

•With this update we have adjusted severe t’storm probability areal coverage on tonight’s forecast, based on trends and real time information.
•With this update we have increased and expanded severe t’storm probabilities across Central and Southern Illinois on Saturday/sAturday night’s forecast, based on trends and the latest model guidance.
•With this update we have issued our first severe t’storm forecast for Sunday/Sunday night.

​Timing & Location…
•Tonight – Early Saturday Morning, August 4-5th: Western & Southwestern Illinois.
•Early Saturday Morning – Early Sunday Morning, August 5-6th: Central and Southern Illinois.
•Early Sunday Morning – Early Monday Morning, August 6-7th: Much of Illinois.

Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across Western and Southwestern Illinois, from tonight through early Saturday morning. Isolated severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm risk is in place across Central and Southern Illinois, from early Saturday morning through early Sunday morning. Isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm risk is in place across much of Illinois, from early Sunday morning through early Monday morning. Isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
