(10:30 PM Thur, August 10th 2023) Thursday night update regarding back-to-back storm systems that are expected to move through the region, Friday through Monday, Aug 11-14th. This will lead to daily chances for rain/t’storms across the state, with severe t’storm potential expected as well.
Update…
•With this update we have increased severe t’storm proabilites across portions of Western and Southwestern Illinois on Friday/Friday night’s forecast, based on inreasing confidince that slightly higher coverage severe t’stormm activity will be possible.
•With this update we have issued the first forecast for Saturday/Saturday night.

•Early Friday Morning – Early Saturday Morning, August 11-12th: All of Illinois.
•Early Saturday Morning – Early Sunday Morning, August 12-13th: Much of Illinois
•Early Sunday Morning – Early Monday Morning, August 13-14th: TBD.
Impacts…
•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm risk is in place across all of Illinois, from early Friday morning through early Saturday morning. Isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms are likely, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across much of Illinois, from early Saturday morning through early Sunday morning. Isolated severe t’storms are likely, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
•A severe t’storm risk will exist on Sunday, Aug 12th as well. More specific information regarding the potential on this day is to come in future updates.
