(3:00PM Friday, November 17th, 2023) The latest NOAA drought monitor update, valid Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, shows that portions of Illinois continue to experience abnormally dry (D0) to moderate drought (D1) conditions. Conditions have maintained or worsened a bit across the state during recent times, due to a lack of widespread and meaningful precipitation. Some precipitation is expected across the state over the next week, but coverage and significance are in question. Thus, conditions will likely be maintained in most areas for the next update.
•Widespread abnormally dry (D0) to moderate drought (D1) conditions exist across much of the state, as of the drought monitor update valid Tuesday, November 14th.
•Drought conditions have generally been maintained or worsened a bit in affected areas since the previous drought monitor update on November 7th.
•There is some question regarding precipitation chances expected across the state over the next week; thus, conditions will likely maintain in most affected areas.
