•With this update, we have upped the start time for the severe t’storm potential, to late tonight/early Thursday morning. Through the day today, weather guidance has come onboard with an initial round of activity across especially Eastern Illinois during this earlier timeframe. Outside of this timing change, no other changes were needed with this update cycle.

•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm threat is in place across portions Central and all of Southern Illinois from late tonight/early Thursday morning through Thursday evening, for the threat of isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms. Damaging winds, hail and a couple of tornadoes will be the main threats with activity.
✔️Summary…
•As a storm system moves through the region, impactful weather is possible across the state on Thursday.
•Several waves of scattered rain and t’storm activity will traverse the state between late tonight/Thursday morning and Thursday evening, as a warm front lifts northward across the state and then a cold front sweeps eastward across the state. Of focus will be Central and Southern Illinois, where three rounds of severe t’storms may be possible with some of this activity from late tonight/early Thursday morning through Thursday evening.
•This first timeframe to watch will be late tonight/early Thursday morning through mid-Thursday morning across especially Eastern Illinois. An initial round of isolated/widely scattered showers and t’storms will develop across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. As this activity matures and tracks east-northeastward, it may pose an isolated severe t’storm threat across especially Eastern Illinois, with hail being the main threat.
•The second timeframe of interest will be mid Thursday morning through mid Thursday afternoon, across portions of Central and Southern Illinois. A round of shower and t’storm activity is expected to develop across Eastern Missouri and Western Illinois mid to late Thursday morning. This activity will track eastward across portions of Central and Southern Illinois through mid-Thursday afternoon, before exiting into Indiana. All modes of severe weather will be possible with this activity.
•In the wake of the previous round of activity, some recovery may occur, allowing for an isolated to scattered showers and t’storms to develop along an advancing cold front across portions of Central and Southern Illinois during roughly mid Thursday afternoon. Should this round materialize, activity would track east-northeastward into Thursday evening, before exiting into Indiana. All modes of severe weather will be possible with this activity.
