Discussion…
•As a storm system moves through the region from Saturday into Sunday, a trailing cold front will sweep across the state. Showers and t’storms will develop in the vicinity of this cold front on Saturday afternoon across Southern Wisconsin, Eastern Iowa, Northwestern Illinois, and Northern Missouri. This activity may organize into a few loose clusters as it tracks east-southeastward across the state from Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning. The focus will be on Northern and Central Illinois, where an environment will be in place that will be supportive of severe t’storms. Thus, some of the activity during the period from Saturday afternoon into Saturday night will be severe across the outlooked areas. Forecast soundings suggest damaging winds and hail will be the greatest threat from activity, though an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out.
