(10:45PM – Monday, April 15th, 2024) Monday night update on a storm system that will move through the region, bringing rain and t’storms, with the potential for severe t’storms, to the state from through very early Wednesday morning.
Update…
•With this update, we have removed severe t’storm probabilities on the severe t’storm forecast for tonight across West-Central and Southern Illinois. The low-end/conditional severe weather threat, which was expected late this afternoon into tonight, has not materialized and looks no longer is expected.
•With this update, little to no changes were needed on the severe t’storm forecast for Tuesday/Tuesday night.
•With this update, we have removed any wording regarding severe t’storm chances beyond early Wednesday morning, as the main threat for daytime hours on Wednesday is looking more likely to occur east of the state.
Timing & Location…
•Tuesday Morning – Wednesday Morning, April 16-17th: All of Illinois.
Impacts…
•A level 1 to 3 severe t’storm risk is in place across all of Illinois from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning for the possibility of isolated to scattered severe t’storms. One or more rounds of showers and t’storms will develop across Iowa and Missouri, then traverse the state, especially from Tuesday afternoon through Tuesday night.

the update reduces the chance of severe thunderstorms for Monday night.
