New Year’s Eve Weather Forecast 🎆
Illinois will be ringing in the New Year with rapidly changing temperatures and wintry weather, especially across the northern half of the state.
Across Northern Illinois, temperatures will be free-falling faster than your New Year’s resolutions, especially late this afternoon and into tonight, setting the stage for a cold New Year’s countdown. A period of snow (mixed with rain?) that begins this afternoon will continue into the evening hours, before ending.
In Central Illinois, temperatures will also drop quickly tonight, with a chance of a brief rain/snow mix possible this evening and early tonight, especially across eastern and central sections of the region.
Meanwhile, Southern Illinois is keeping things low-key and drama-free. Expect dry conditions, with temperatures in the 30’s and 40’s this afternoon, gradually easing lower through the evening and overnight hours. No weather party-crashers here — just a slow, steady chill.
If you’re heading out to celebrate, bundle up, have fun, stay safe…and we’ll see you in 2026!🥂
