(11:00AM – Friday, April 3rd, 2026) Continued severe t’storm threat thru early Saturday…
⚠️Update…
•With this update cycle, we have slightly expanded level 2 and significant severe t’storm probabilities across more of Central Illinois. Otherwise, no additional changes were needed to the going forecast elsewhere.
⏰📍Timing & Location…
•Midday Today – Saturday Morning, April 3-4th: All of Illinois.
⚡️Hazards…
•A level 1 to 2 severe t’storm threat is in place across all of Illinois from midday today through Saturday morning, for the threat of isolated to widely scattered severe t’storms. All modes of severe weather will be possible, including damaging winds, hail and a few tornadoes. Some significant severe t’storms will be possible across Central Illinois, capable of producing a strong tornado.
✔️Summary…
•Midday Today – Saturday Morning… A stationary frontal boundary sitting across Southern Illinois this morning will steadily lift northward as a warm front today, making it up to around I-80 tonight. Scattered showers and t’storms will develop across Central Illinois in this vicinity of this lifting boundary this afternoon, with this activity expected to pose some severe t’storm threat as it continues into the evening. This boundary and the associated activity will likely be the focal point for the greatest coverage and severity of the overall threat across the state today. Also of interest will be a loose QLCS, which will develop across Iowa and Missouri this afternoon. This activity, in a gradually weakening phase, will traverse much of the state from later this evening through Saturday morning. This activity may pose some severe t’storm threat as well.
