Tue-Sat, July 25-29th Severe T’Storm Episode Update #7

(11:00AM Fri, July 28th 2023) Friday morning update regarding multiple disturbances that will continue to move through the region through Saturday, along the northern periphery of a ridge in place across the region. This pattern will continue to support daily chances for rain/t’storms and severe t’storms across portions of the state during this period, through Saturday.

Update…
•With this update we have adjusted severe t’storm probabilities across the state on today/tonight’s forecast, based on real time information, trends and the latest model guidance.
•With this update we have expanded severe t’storm probabilities northward into Central Illinois, based on the trends and the latest model guidance.

​Timing & Location…
•This Morning – Early Saturday Morning, July 28-29th: Northern & Central Illinois.
•Early Saturday Morning – Saturday Night, July 29th: Central & Southern Illinois.

Impacts…
•A level 1 to 3 severe t’storm risk is in place across Northern and Central Illinois, from this morning through early Saturday morning. Isolated to scattered severe t’storms will be likely, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado. Some significant severe t’storms will be possible across Northern Illinois, which will be capable of producing damaging winds of 75MPH+, corridors of widespread/significant damaging winds, and hail of 2.00″ or larger in diameter.
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across Central and Southern Illinois, from early Saturday morning through Saturday night. Isolated severe t’storms will be likely, posing a risk of damaging winds and large hail.
