(11:30AM Wed, July 26th 2023) Wednesday morning update on a few disturbances that will continue to move through the region through tonight, bringing the chance for a few rounds of rain/t’storms to portions of the state, including some severe t’storm threat. This setup is a product of the mean upper level flow sitting across the region, along the northeastern periphery of a ridge that is building in across the region, which extends back into the Desert Southwest and Central/Southern Plains.

•With this update we have adjusted severe t’storm probabilities on today’s/tonight’s forecast, based on the latest trends and real time information. One round of activity has already affected portions of the state this morning, with an additional round or two anticipated the remainder of today/tonight.

•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across much of Illinois, from this morning through tonight. Isolated severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
