Tue-Wed, July 25-26th Severe T’Storm Episode Update #2

(10:30PM Tues, July 25th 2023) Tuesday night update on a few disturbances that will continue to move through the region through Wednesday, bringing the chance for a few rounds of rain/t’storms to portions of the state, including some severe t’storm threat. This setup is a product of the mean upper level flow sitting across the region, along the northeastern periphery of a ridge that is building in across the region, which extends back into the Desert Southwest and Central/Southern Plains.

•With this update we have adjusted severe t’storm probabilities on tonight’s/early Wednesday morning’s forecast, based on the latest trends and real time information.
•With this update we have issued our first forecast for Wednesday.

•Tonight – Early Wednesday Morning, July 25-26th: Much of Illinois.
•Early Wednesday Morning – Wednesday Night, July 26th: Northern & Central of Illinois.

Impacts…
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across much of Illinois, from tonight through early Wednesday morning. Isolated severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds and large hail.
•A level 1 severe t’storm risk is in place across Northern and Central Illinois, from early Wednesday morning through Wednesday night. Isolated severe t’storms will be possible, posing a risk of damaging winds, large hail and an isolated tornado.
