(4:00PM Thur, July 20th 2023) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid Tuesday July 18th, 2023 shows that much of Illinois continues to experience abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions. With several rounds of hit or miss rain and t’storms across the state over the past few weeks, drought conditions have improved for many areas, while leveling off for other areas, since the previous update on July 13th. The weather pattern over the next week will continue to support some chances for hit or miss rain and t’storms across the state, which once again may help to alleviate drought conditions for some areas, while conditions worsen in other areas.
Impacts…
•Widespread abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions exist across much of the state.
•Drought conditions have improved for many areas, while leveling off for other areas across the state, since the previous update on July 13th.
