Spring/Summer 2023 Drought – July 13th Update

(4:30PM Thur, July 13th 2023) The latest NOAA drought monitor update valid Tuesday July 11th, 2023 shows that much of Illinois continues to experience abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions. With a few rounds of hit or miss rain and t’storms across the state over the past week or so, drought conditions have improved a bit for some areas, while worsening for other areas, since the previous update on July 6th. The weather pattern over the next week will continue to support some chances for hit or miss rain and t’storms across the state, which once again may help to alleviate drought conditions for some areas, while conditions worsen in other areas.

Impacts…
•Widespread abnormally dry (D0) to extreme drought (D3) conditions exist across much of the state.
•Drought conditions have improved for some areas, while worsening for other areas across the state, since the previous update on July 6th.
