Sun, March 11th Snow Event

(12:15PM) A developing storm system moving across the region is currently bringing accumulating snow to portions of the state…

This storm system is in the developing stages and working with limited cold air. Thus, messy precip types and heavy wet snow is the outcome. Areas of rain and snow have been affecting portions of Western and Southwest Illinois from late last night through this morning. Snowfall accumulations of a dusting to 2″ have occurred near the Illinois/Missouri border, as well as higher amounts into Missouri. Precip is slowly coming to an end across Western Illinois early this afternoon. However, areas of rain and snow are likely to continue through later this evening across much of Southern Illinois. Periods of moderate to heavy snow will be possible across this area.

Final snowfall accumulations of 1-3″ are likely from an axis across Eastern Missouri down into Southern Illinois, and extending into Southern Indiana/Kentucky. Locally higher amounts are possible within this axis.
