Another round of thunderstorms is expected across the state today, with severe weather likely for some areas as well.

In the wake of overnight showers and thunderstorms across the state, clearing is expected, which will allow for some destabilization and moisture recovery to occur. A boundary will likely stretch from Southern Iowa out west, into Northwest/North-Central Illinois by afternoon. This boundary will be the focus for thunderstorm development during the afternoon, with ample instability and moisture expected along and south of  it. Storms that develop from Northwest Illinois down into Southern Iowa and Missouri will likely push east-southeast across much of the state through the evening and overnight hours. There greatest severe threat will be across Western and Central Illinois, with all modes of severe weather possible.
